In an effort to give your children an opportunity to learn and use the various types of technologies available to them, I have added a new tool to our classroom. We will be using a lap top computer to do a daily blog of the various happenings in our room. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what a blog is, it is an online journal used in a variety of ways to communicate personal ideas with everyone. As stated before, our blog will be used as a communication tool from us to you. We will also use it as a start up page to access other links that we will begin using in our classroom. One such link is www.edmodo.com, which will serve as our class discussion board. We will be using this website to communicate, with each other, about various topics we are discussing in the classroom; such as guided reading books or scientific ideas. In order to get this site up and running, your child will be given a Gaggle account, which is a school safe email account. I hope to begin introducing these three new classroom components by the year 2010. If you have any questions or comments, please direct them to me.
