Today we had library and no other special because we had to prepare for our Glenbrook spring concert. The kindergartner's were dressed as farm animals and sang Old MacDonald Had a Farm. The first graders sang Mulberry Bush. The second graders sang You Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story. And the 3rd graders sang the Do Ray Mi song. 4th graders played their recorders to You're a grand old flag and finally we started out singing Yesterday by the Beetles then I can see Clearly Now by Johny Nash not cash then played recorders to Aura Lee then finally sang the Spongbob Square pants theme song! just kidding! We polkaed to the Jolly Lumber Jack And in a few hours we have to do it all over again!

Today we for specials we had rehearsal for our play tomorrow. And for our rehearsal we practiced getting on the stage and getting off the stage, even singing our songs for the concert. Next we had social studies. For social studies we did notes on the Native Americans. Next we had snack. After that we had guided reading. Next we were working on our second president project, some of use are doing power points, songs, and game boards. After that we have lunch and recess. For lunch we have sub-sandwich. Lastly we have math.

Tuesday

This Tuesday was great! First, in specials we had Computer and Guidance. In computer we had free time or time to work on our power points and other research. In guidance we had MORE free time than normal. We went outside for a half hour extra recess. After that, we had Science. We made a solid motor with no solenoid. Then, we had snack and reading. In reading we read in our reading group. We also worked on our three sentence summary. In English we worked on our president project. Some people are creating a power point while others are making a game. For lunch we had meatballs and gravy over mashed potatoes. YUMMY!!!! After lunch we went outside to enjoy the beautiful day. It was hard to go back inside to do Math. In Math we are studying Pi (not the kind you eat) which is 3.1415......

Today we had computer and Library for our specials. In computer we got to work on our big 6 reserch project and if you were done you got free time. In library we read a book called "I fooled you" Last call if you have any books checked out under library pro!!! Very soon we will start our adventure at the middle school. At the middle school we will watch the performance Charlie and the chocolate Factory also we will get to eat and get a tour of the middle school by the 8th graders. Today we had a sub because our teachers wife is going to have a child. For specials we had music and gym. Then we had science and melted A light bulb and a battery exploded on my (me Emily) desk. Then we did this president thing project ma-doodle and their was this one guy that had a funny beard that looked like a messed up "x-man". Today for specials we had gym and music. For gym we had volleyball. In volleyball we where practicing bumping, severing, and setting. For music we sang songs for our concert. well, it is tuesday and nothing has really changed since yesterday.we started the day out with guidance and then seeing we couldn't use the computer lab due to testing we got to go outside for fifteen minuetes. as soon as we finished that we indulged in some exciting social studies!!well, to be honest there really isn't much exciting about learning of people that are dead. after consuming knowledge of dead people we moved on to english to learn about space travel.atleast that is moderatly new!!now it is time for recess and lunch then we will have math.oh,and in the book about space we read they said that earth felt like more than home.how would you feel coming home from a long space trip?respond!!later!!

Today we had art. In art we made some expressionism pictures, which is a bunch of angles and curves made into things. Next we had social studies/Mrs.Pamperin. In Mrs.Pamperin's class they read Marley and Me than blogged. In social studies we took notes on a planter's life. Then we talked about are reading quilt, that is due April 30th. After, we voted who our driters of the week are the results turned out to be Allie with the word cheerful and Alex with the word dirt. Now we are playing spelling sort games/reading. Sup we forgot to blog yesterday. We had a really fun specials today. It was library and computer. We just found out that the school is getting a new book search. In computer we had bookmark fantastic. We got to create a bookmark for our buddies and ourselves. Science was fun too. We got to play with magnets and how Strong they really are( dark secrets you can't get any where else about magnets). Then we had a Minny team study during snack. Next we had a grading session and got scores. Now it is team study.

Then we had snak then Mr.Hendricks read Dimond of Darkhold, in the book Dun's dad got hert cuz he triped of himself and got cut his hand.The we rushed into L.A. in that we read The Case of a Shinning Blue Planet. CraZy MonDAy

First we had free day in music. This means we got to play games. In gym we exercised our muscles by playing volleyball. A lot of us got red forearms. Next we went to history with Mr. Schullo. We studied the southern colonies, and the plantations. Mr. Schullo re-taught us how to tell a fact from an opinion. In language arts we were introduced to our new story, "The Case of the Shining Ble Planet." We learned our vocabulary and wrote a journal entry about what it would be like to be a cosmonaut in outter space. We got new word study words, and have a meaning sort due tomorrow. Lunch is coming up!

Spring Break Is Here!

Good Morning. "The students have left the building." Today we had an early release. I do not know who was more excited for the extra long break, the kids or teachers? This morning we had art. Everyone got to bring home their pottery project, along with some oragami. After specials we had our end of 3rd quarter incentive for late slips and yellow caution cards. As a reward, the children got a hour long recess. Although it was cold, they all had fun. After a short lunch we did a classroom version of "Spring Cleaning," so that we are ready to go on April 5. It is hard to believe that 3/4 of the year is done. The rest of the year is sure to be a lot of fun, and filled with the anticipation of becoming a middle schooler.

Today for specials we had library and computer. We had a smooth time in library so we got free time in computer! horray! we finally get a break... Then we had social studies. In social studies we took more "bhhive" notes as usual. we had no word study! yay! After that, we read the story "oceans". It was mostly about water and waves and stuff like that. Then we had fun drawing/painting some pictures that have to do with water. For lunch today, we are having happy birthday! And today we celebrated Gabbie's birthday! After that we had snack. Today is Colton's brithday. He brought in cookies. Next in reading we read "Summer of Fire." It was about fires in Yellowstone National Park. St. Patrick's Day - Wednesday

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Have you had a lucky day? Today Mr. Hendricks is back. We began the day by going to specials. We had gym and music. In gym we had game day. In music we played our recorders and sung the song "Yesterday," by the Beatles. We are singing it at our spring concert. After music we had social studies. In social studies we got our tests back. People did a good job. We also began studying Maryland and the Carolina's. Maryland was founded by the Calverts. After social studies we got to go outside for 15 minutes for a free recess, because we got a good report from Mrs. Fredrickson. In English we talked about our persuasive paragraphs. Today we had a presentation by Patrick Allen, who is a Civil Engineer. He designs roads and bridges. We learned a lot. We had shamrock chicken nuggets for lunch. Pajama Day Thursday

Today is pajama day at school, as part of "Read Across America" week. Today in library Mrs. Gee read the Dr. Seuss story "Remember the First of Octember." We also had to take a school census, to learn about our school community. In computer we got free time, because the P Drive was not working (thank you P Drive)! After specials we had science. In science today we re-built our cars to include propellers. They make the car go very fast, as long as you wind them up very tight. Watch the video below to see. Today we took a quiz in Word Study. Afterwards we got to DROP EVERYTHING AND READ! We got to read for about 35 minutes. It was scary silent. In English we continued to work on our compare and contrast essays. Mr. Hendricks taught us how to make our introduction paragraph. The whole class did very good. Now we are getting ready for lunch. Today is Taco's! We are trying to get ready early! Today we went to gym and music. In gym we played hockey on floor scooters. In music talked about the "Star Spangled Banner" and went back to the homeroom. Today we had computers and homeroom. For computers we studied Dr. Seuss, because it is his birthday. For homeroom we worked on shamrocks for the door. Today in Science we tried out our cars with sails on them. Some cars worked really great and others did not. We read Dr. Seuss books for guided reading. We worked on setting up our comparing and contrasting paper during English. And right now we are having team study. Then we are going to have chicken nuggets, folloewed by reccess. So that leaves math to get out of the way then we can go home!

How's it going people?! Well, today we were having fun slamming pucks in the nets in gym class. Floor hockey rocks! We are starting a band in music... NOT! It sounds like heaven (exaggerated). We are starting to study animals for a compare and contrast paper we are going to write. We have to study one animal, for now. The options are: polar bear and giant panda, poison dart frog and American bullfrog, and hammerhead shark and great white shark. What animal would you do? We were playing with rubber bands in science. Don't try it at home! We had to wind up our rubberbands around our free spinning axles, and let the car go. Depending on the amount we spun the back wheels, the car traveled a certain distance. We are going for lunch (TOASTY DOGS!), so enjoy your day, because math is coming and that ruins the day. Right? Wiki Madness

Today we jammed out on recorders in music (I wish). In gym we were slamming pucks across the gym floor, during floor hockey. In science we demodified our awsome lunar cars. What do you think we are building them with now? Here are a few clues: we now have potential energy, kinetic energy, and tension. During snack we were learning how to use the wiki (boring),but inportant. Now we are just finishing up our wiki pages and getting ready for lunch, which is spaghetti. "Mama mia!" After lunch we HAVE to go to mind controling math. Then we head home for the night. HORRAY!!!

Today we had art. In art we made clay pots. After we had soical studies. In social studies we took notes on New Netherlands and New York. We also took a test on dog 9 and 10. Next we read People of Sparks. After we had to finish our personality squares or work on our book report. Now we are getting ready to go to lunch and recess. After we will have math. In math some of us are finishing our test while others are finishing up a lesson on subtracting mixed numbers and maybe playing some games. Parent teacher conferences begin tonight, and continue tomorrow afternoon and next Tuesday evening.

Wacky Wednesday

Today we had library and computer. In library Mrs.Gee read "Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Lightning Thief." So far, it is about a boy who causes a lot of trouble, and is sent to a private school. He is taking a class where the teacher talks about Greek Gods. In computer we worked on typing up our spring personality square paragraphs. Afterwards we had science. In science we had to make a lunar rover that had to perform special tasks. The vehicle was part of our orignal vehicle, but we added on to it. It had to carry two blocks of wood, and travel the length of our table in 4 to 6 seconds. We had 30 minutes to create our lunar vehicle. Only about 3 out of the 12 teams vehciles worked. Then we had to draw the rovers while Mr.Hendricks read "People Of Sparks." In "People of Sparks" we learned that Torren's brother Caspar is coming home (he is a roamer). Also, Lena is lonely, because she is not near Doon who is making new friends. One of those friends is Tick Hassler. We had no guided reading today but, instead some of us had to finish our writing assessment, while others worked on their spring personality squares. Like any other day we are now getting ready to go to lunch and recess. After will be going to math. Some of us are taking our chapter 7 test today, while others are working on adding mixed numbers.

Terrified Tuesday

Just like any other day we had gym and music. In gym we played side line floor hockey, and in music we had a visitor: Ms. Kinny who is a music teacher at Lannoye and Fairveiw. We practiced our watermelon belt for recorder karate. After we had social studies. In social studies we took notes on the New Netherlands and New York, also got a little bit of time for dog 11. Then we had guided reading. Today Wolf Brother read with Mrs.Doell, Island read with Mr.Hendricks, Tunnels and Elijah of Buxton read alone. We had word study and we cut out our words and did a my sort. Then was the writing assessment or personality square if done with writing. Now we will be going to lunch and recess. Today was the greatest day ever!!! We had computer and guidance. In computer we learned about our new wiki, and it is going to be called Glenbrook's Bookshelf. In guidance we learned what it was like to be blind. Some people even ran into doors!!!! During science we went down into the cafeteria and did a experiment with motion. After we had guided reading in guided reading Elijah of Buxton read with mr.Hendricks, Half Moon Investigations read with Mrs.Doell then Tunnels and Wolf brother read in the hall. We got a choice to do spelling or writing assessment but both groups had to do a meaning sort. Now we are getting ready to go outside and eat lunch. After we will be attending math.

IT'S FRIDAY!!!

The kids did not have a chance to blog today, so I am taking the liberty of doing so. Today has certainly been a day out of the ordinary. After all, there are only a few days a school year where it is acceptable for the students to consume pounds of sugar (candy) for their before lunch snack. That being said, we celebrated Valentine's Day in our classroom today. While a lot of the kids explicitly shared their dislike of Valentine's, it was clear this was not true as they were "like kids all over again," opening up their Valentine containers filled with cards and treats. Whether they will admit it or not, they liked the Valentine wishes from their peers. This morning we snuck in music and gym. Many of the kids will soon be ready to try out for the Green Bay Gamblers, with their incredible floor hockey skills. One problem, however: the Gamblers play on ice. This morning the students also had a Language Arts free choice period, where they worked on one of three things: 1. reading their February book report (wiki) book, 2. worked on their Fifth Grade Writing Assessment, or 3. paste their Hatchet map and letter to one page for viewing in the hallway. The sugar lull has hit, as many of the students are working hard (maybe even falling asleep) while taking their unit 7 math test, working on figuring out those challenging double negatives, or testing their skills at math computer games. Today has been fun, and reminds us why it is fun to be a kid!

I don't know Thursday

Today we did many activities such as.... let me think, we had specials and we made some radical clay contaners for various items that we will take home and use. In science we did some sort of test with our vehicular devices using washers. The washers acted as an unbalanced force, in order to pull our cars, and create inertia. During snack we studied for our word study quiz or read quietly to ourselves. In word study we took an exciting test. We spent some time on our 5th grade writing assessments today. Some people are already finishing up. Now we are in team study, and getting ready to go to lunch and recess. In math, some of us are finishing chapter 7 today, while others are getting close. Double negatives are tough! Just remember, a double negative equals a positive.

Today in specials we had library and computer. Mr. Hendricks said that we could have free time in the computers if we were good in library. Do you think that we got free time or not? Then we went to social studies and took a really hard test [did i mention it was hard] har har har! My favorite food is horseradish. Then we had a lovely snack, filled with awsomness! Toatlly Tuesday

Today we had gym and music for specials. Today in gym we had floor hockey practice. Then in music we had to play on our recorders. We played Jingle Bells. We came to science and we took a test on Motion and Design. We also had guided reading. In guided reading we had to write a predictoin and a summary. We lunged into our 5th grade writing assessment. Now we are headed 0ff to Lunch and recess. We then skip into math. Soon enough time to go home!!!

Today we went to computer. We had to go on Edmodo and respond to an article on Time for Kids. Then we went back upstiars to work on our valentines boxes and the hearts for the door. We then went to social studies. Four people presented there posters on India, United States, Japan, and Sweden. We came back and had snack, while Mr. Hendricks read People of Sparks. Today Lena learned about "The Disaster," which was caused by 4 wars and 3 plagues. We found out our new guided reading groups. The books we will be reading for a while, because they're long, are "Elijah of Buxton," "Tunnels," "Wolf Brother," and "Half Moon Investigations." We had to read to a certain amount of pages, if we did not get it done we have homework, which includes a prediction and summary. We had to work on our 5th grade writing assessment for the district. All fifth graders are doing it. We have just finished lunch and then are off for recess! After recess we go to math then clean up and dissmisal!

Fun Friday

Good morning blog readers! Today is a Friday, and thank god, that was a long week of school. It started out as a normal day. We did our D.O.L then went to specials. For specials we had muisic and then gym. In muisic we had a free day, so we played muisical chairs. Emily won and then we played "lelgoto lake" then finaly played on the keyboards. In gym we worked on floor hockey and played hockey pirates. Then in science we watched the apollo missions. In the apollo missions they landed on the moon. Then after science we had our writing assement prep. Now we are working on our valentine boxes or finishing Hatchet maps. Then we have lunch, recess, and then math. Have a good weekend!

Hatchet Map Day

Good afternoon blog readers. When we got here the news was on. After D.O.L we went to specials. For Specials we had Library and Computer. In library Mrs. Gee showed us the Scholastic Book Wizard. In computer we took an S.R.I. Mr. Hendricks said that this was our best S.R.I yet. After that we had science. In science we finished our drawings of our first car and then built one from a technical design. Then we had snack and read people of sparks. Today the people of Sparks desided to let the people from Ember stay for 6 months. Then we had word study.In word study the green group wrote a story and yellow group did there spell sort. After that we talked about our wiki and the Hatchet books. Then we worked on our Hatchet maps. It's team study now. Then off to lunch and Recess we go. Last but not least math.

Today it started out like any old day. First we did our D.O.L then went off to specials. For specials we had Gym and Muisic. In Gym we started with our floor hocky unit. A Normal Day in B223

Today it was a normal day. We did our D.O.L then went to specials. For specails we had computer and then C.A.L.S. In the computer lab we went on Edmodo and discussed Groundhog Day. In CALS we talked about what it might be like to be hearing impaired. It was harder than we all thought. After that we had sicence. We made three view drawings of our first vehicle, and colored them. The views we made were side view, birds eye view, and front view. Then we had our snack and read people of sparks. Today the people from Ember were assigned to houses. We did a meaning sort in word study. Then we did our Hatchet vocab quiz and Hatchet quiz. Now it's team study. Next we are going to lunch and we have chesse quesadilla then recess and finally math. So, do you think the groundhog, Phil, will see his shadow tomorrow, and send us six more weeks of winter OR do you think he will stay out and bring spring early?

Emily: I think there will be six more weeks of winter!
Mason: I think he will see his shadow, because it is so nasty out.

Fast Friday

Today for specials we had music and gym. For music we had the middle school band teacher, Mrs. Radkey, come over and show us some instruments. In gym we had fitness day. Dexter can do the most pull-ups in our class. In Mrs. Pamerin's class we read to ourselves. In Social Studies some of us did our country presentions. We also got a new D.O.G. (#10). Our reading buddies came to visit today. They read us their books that they brought up. Now we are reading to ourselves and getting work done if we need to. Next we have math at 11:oo to 12:15. Some of us have to finsh up our test that we had yesterday and some of our classmates are already working on chapter 7. Then we have Lunch and Recess. This afternoon we have our 5th grade insentive. We are going to differnt classrooms to color, paint, and playing games. Then we will clean up and go home. This week sure went fast.

Motion and Design Thursday

Today we built our first vehicles in science. The design had to go at least 1 meter, with no limit on time. Every one's vehicles worked! You can see what they look like above. Before science we had Art. In art we worked on our watercolor paintings of what we did during any vacation. We also matted them. After specials and science we listened to Mr. Hendricks read The People of Sparks. Today Lena and Doon explained how all the people got out of the city of Ember. All of the people from Ember seem pretty tired and sick. We took a Word Study quiz today. After word study we read our library books, to prepare for our February book report. We are going to be adding on to a wiki that Mr. Hendricks made. Then we read chapter 16 of Hatchet. Today, Brian got trampled by a moose, and we think he broke his ribs. Then, after he fell asleep, he heard some weird rumbling in the distance. It was a tornado! It injured him worse, but he said, "I hope the tornado got the moose!" Plus, he is now hopeful, because he knows he can survive anything. We have vocabulary and cause/effect due tomorrow. We have math in a little bit. We are studying how to subtract and add fractions. We are also doing stem and leaf plots. Today we have a test. Some of our classmates have just begun chapter 7, which deals with exponents and scientific notation! YIKES!

Today we got to Skype with the sixth grade music teachers, during specials. It was fun, because we got ask questions face to face with the teachers. After skyping, we talked about Valentine's Day. We each need to bring in a container (shoe box, coffee can, oatmeal can, etc.) to put Valentine's cards in. We will decorate them in class. After this we had Social Studies and Reading. Some of us gave our country reports. Next we talked about our February book reports. We can read any book in our lexile range, but it must be at least 150 pages and it has to be a book we've never read before. We are gong to make a class wiki of all our books. We practiced words today, by doing a Word Exploration. Today we took a quiz on Hatchet chapters 11 to 14. For homework we have to read chapter 15. We have to stay inside for recess today, because it is too cold outside. In math we are beginning chapter 7.

whacky Tuesday

Today we had gym and music for our specials. In gym we had fitness day. In music we researched our reports. Tomorrow we are going to Skype with the middle school teachers during specials! In science we sorted out our next science unit, Motion and Design. We also talked about what we know and want to know about Motion and Design. After science we had snack and read by ourselves. Then in word study we sorted out are words with a partner and tested with them, by doing a spelling sort. After word study we read Hachet, chapter 14. Brian got sprayed by a skunk! He was blind for three hours. In the morning he tore down his shelter, because he wants to rebuild it, to make it more secure. Then we had team study. After team study we have lunch and recess. Next we have math.

Mobi Monday

For our specials we went to the computer lab and had guidance in our classroom afterward. In the computer lab some of us worked on our social studies country projects, while some of us worked on our music projects. When Mrs. Bogacz came into our class, we finished filling out our resume's. We also signed up for our resume conferences, which our parents can come to if they want. In Mrs. Pamerpin's room we studied words and read "One Brother Too Many." It is about a boy, Named Nick, whose mom died. He likes basketball. He recently got a new step mom and brother. The rest of our classmates had social studies. They heard some country reports and worked on their reports. We had read to self during snack today. Then we had word study. We had to do a blind sort with a partner. Afterwards, we used our Mobi's. They are fun, but will be some work. We ended the morning with Hatchet, chapter 13. We are typing this at the begining of recess. We have math in a bit. We will be finishing chapter 6, and some of our classmates are starting chapter 7.

Short Friday

Today we got two Mobi's for our classroom to use! We are waiting on one more to arrive. We will use these during school in addition to our Smart Board. All Mr. Hendricks has told us, is they are difficult to use. I guess we'll find out soon.

In music we worked on our reserach projects. We are making a lot of progress. During our next music class, we are going to have an interview with the music teacher at the middle school, using Skype! In gym we had free time.

After specials our student council did a proram for all of us on leadership. A few of our classmates got recognized as outstanding leaders, even though we are all leaders in some way. Way to go Kortney, Hayden, and Gabbie! The program was a success, even though there were some technical difficulties. Thank goodness for Mr. Hendricks.

We had an early lunch, because we are leaving school in about 20 minutes! Mr. Hendricks says we have to leave, because he has work to do. We won't complain! I (Kortney) hope I get to go skiing this weekend. I (Aaron) am not sure what I will do with the time off.

Today we had Art for our specials. In Art we worked on our prints. They turned out really cool. Then, in social studies we worked on our reports. In Mrs. Pamprins class they celebrated Maria's birthday and played games. Then we started The People of Sparks. Torren doesn't want the city of Ember in his city. Then we listened to Hatchet but with no book. We had to visualize what Brian is going through. He went fishing with a spear but it didn't work. Then he thought he could make a bow and arrow. While he was looking for things he would need he heard an engine. So he started the signal fire but the plane didn't see it. Instead it turned around. Would you feel sad if you didn't get rescued? Now we are in team study. In math some of us are going to take a test today others are going to start unit seven.

Hard Working Wednesday!

Today we had library and computer for our specials. In library we researched our music choices for next year. In computer we went on gaggle, a had to email a friend what we had for breakfast. I had Cinamon Toast Crunch! We also spent time doing more research our music choices. Mr. Pierre and Mrs. Gee set up Glenbrook Webs for us to use for this and other projects. Then in science we worked on our comics, which showed one of Newton's three laws of motions. Mine showed a person jumping on a trampoline, and flying away into a house. This is part of the third law. After that we finished Matilda. In the end Matilda moved in with Miss Honey, because her parents were leaving town for Spain, and didn't want her. Plus, Miss Honey got her house back. Then we spent time on Hatchet. We took a quiz, read chapter 11, and did our cause/effect and fear charts. We worked hard during team study, because there's a lot of homework tonight. YIKES!!! Brunch is coming up. Some of us are taking our unit 6 math test today, while others are finishing up the unit.

Are we the only ones with tons of homework today!? I think my bag is going to weigh 2,000 lbs!

Today we had music and gym for our specials. In gym we did layups in basketball. Layups are easy for some of us, but tricky for others. In music we watched a video about general music, band, and choir. These are the options of music classes we can take next year. We each have to research the one we are most interested in. Next, we had social studies, with Mr. Schullo. Some of our classmates went to Mrs. Pamerin's class, and finished their MAPS tests. In social studies we did more reasearch on our countries. I am researching Norway, some of my classmates are researching Chile, Spain, Mongolia, and more. After social studies we had snacks, while Mr. Hendricks read aloud Matilda. Today we found out that Miss. Honey's aunt is ... wait, you do not want to know, because she is the villain of the story. It's Ms. Trunchbull, the mean principal. We read chapter 10 of Hatchet today. Brian found eggs for food, but is not alble to cook them with his fire. He thinks they are from a snapping turtle. Today we recieved pretend letters from the Canadian DNR asking for our help, in finding Brian. We are going to make maps, that would help a rescue team find him. We have to complete a "My Sort" today, which some of us are working on now in team study. Next up is math. Fractions and tests are on the way!

Martin Luther King Jr. day

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. day! We had Computer and guidence for our specials today. In computer we explored our edmodo accounts and answered some questions about MJK Jr. In guidence we watched Internet Safe Side Super Chick. Then in science we read about Martin Luther King Jr and talked about being kind. We listenend to Hatchet. Brian discovered how to make fire. So we went outside and made our own fire in a jar using birch bark. How would you make a fire if in the woods by yourself? Now we are in team study. In math we are going to add and subtract fractions.

Fantastic Friday

Today we had Gym and Music. In gym we had free time. In music we watched a video about what music class we are going to take in middle school. After that we had social studies we picked which country we will study. Mrs.Pamperin's class took a MAPS test. Hayden won the Geo bee yesterday! Yippie!!! At snack time we cleaned and moved our desks.Then we took our Hatchet test. Now we're doing free time before lunch. Then we have lunch . For lunch we have Figaro's pizza. Then we have recess. After that we have math. In math we are still learning about Stem and Leaf plots, and some of us are even adding fractions! Book orders are due Jan. 29th. You can order online.

Geo Bee Thursday

Today we had Art. In art we are working on our animal prints. Mr.Hendricks wasn't here today so we had Mrs.Fredrickson. After that we had science . In science we are working on our three laws of motion that we have to type paragraphs on the computer. Then we had snack and read more about Matilda. She went with Miss.Honey to her house. Then she learned that she could move things with her eyes. What would you do if you could move things with you eyes? After that we read chapter 8 in Hatchet. It was about a porchipine that went in the cave he built. He got scared and then got hit in the leg by the porchipine. OWWWW!
then we started writing our Hatchet letter. Now we're going to lunch. we might have recess but we might not becuase of the Geo bee. We hope one of our class mates win!!!! See ya later!

Wacky Wednesday

Today we had a wacky Wednesday! First we had library. In library we talked about intellectual property, which could be something a person makes up (like a design, invention, or writing), and another person may not steal. After that we had computer. In computer we got our own Edmodo accounts. Then we had social studies. In social studies we are going to be doing a research project about different countries. Some kids went to Mrs.Pamperin's. They read "One Brother Too Many" and practiced sounds. Then we had snack and read Matilda. In Matilda there's a mean principle called Miss. Trunchbull. She's really mean and torchers kids. What you do if you were stuck with the Trunchbull? Matilda used her mental powers to tip over a glass of water, which had a newt in it, on her. It terrified her, which was funny. Next we read Hatchet, chapter 7. In this chapter Brian finds raspberries, which do not make him sick. Would you eat wild raspberries? We also took a test about Hatchet chapters 5 and 6. We are working on letters to passer byers, if we were Brian Robeson. What would you say if you were stranded and had only a scrap of paper and something to write with? Now we're going eat tacos and go out for recess. Then we have math. In math we are learning about stem and leaf plots and adding and subtracting fractions. We even are using slide rules!

Busy Tuesday

Today we had gym and music. In gym we went in the smaller gym becuase somebody was fixing the bleachers in the big gym. For gym we played team ball. Then in music we had to pick what we are going to do in middle school for music. Our 3 choices are general music, chior, and band. After that we had science. In science we had to type our paragrphs about Sir Isaac Newton's 3 laws of motion. Then we had snack and read Matilda. In the book Miss Trunchbull grabbed one boy by the hair, and another boy by the ears. Then we read Hatchet. In Hatchet Brian Roebeson gets stranded in the Canadian wilderness. What would you do if you got stranded there? Now we're going to lunch and recess. After that we're going to math to practice stem and leaf plots and fractions.

Mad Monday

Today we had computer and guidence. In computer we messed around with our gaggle accounts. We didn't have guidence today so we got the cows and went on our gaggle accounts. In social studies we corrected our tests and watched a movie. Four of our classmates went to Mrs. Pamperin's. During snack Mr. Hendricks read Matilda. During reading we read Hatchet Chapter 5. After we took a test for Hatchet. For word study we have to practice our words with our families, by doing a blind sort. We are going to lunch and resses now. After recess we have math. Most of us are well into chapter six on data collecting

It's Finally Friday! Bye! Mr.Hendricks!

It's finally Friday! Today we started with our daily routine: D.O.L., Lunch count, morning pledge. Then we went to Music and gym. In music we took a test on the music notes. In gym we had to practice shooting hoops for basketball then we had to run laps. After gym and music we watched a documentary on NASA Gemini missions. We learned how hard it must have been to make a rocket, and send people to outter space. Not shortly after we did word study, which meant Spell sorts and word Exploration sheets (both groups did the spell sort and the word Exploration sheet). All of the students looked at our new gaggle student e-mail accounts (it is safe for kids/students), with Mrs. Gee. We are super excited to begin using them! We listened to Hatchet, chapter 4 today, because we had a crunch for time. Team study was short, again (we get to use the cows aka laptops). Then had Lunch and recess. Next up: Math!

Another Day With a teacher!

Hey! Today we went to Art, we got to do something that has to do with our animal research project. We drew our animal's paw prints. Shortly after we went to Social Studies, we took our test. After Social Studies we woofed down our snacks and listened to Mr. Hendricks read about Miss Trunchbull, the evil principal in the story Matilda. We took a quiz on chapters 1 and 2 for Hatchet. Afterwards we opened up our book Hatchet with our partners to read chapter 3. Our story is about a boy named Brian who is going to visit his dad in the Canadian oil fields, but his plane crashes because the pilot had a heart attack. Today we didn't have English but we will have it tomorrow. We still had Word Study. Some of us did driting and the others had their spelling sort. We had hardly any Math is coming up soon! Some of us are taking a multiplication test, while others will continue working on stem and leaf plots.

Any old day with some new technology

Today we started with D.O.L., like any old day. Not long after, we went to Library and Computer. Mr.Hendricks taught us how to put hyperlinks on a Microsoft Word document to help with our research projects. In Library we picked out books for our animal report for our book Hatchet. When we got back to class we had science and studied Newtons 3 Laws of Motion. Mr.Hendricks did funny demonstrations, showed an Internet clip, and found Newton's Cradle on the internet. Then we opened up our book Hatchet and went straight into reading with our assigned partners. Now people are coming back from reading and going straight to the next assigned work to finish with our partners, which is Word Study. We have to either do our spell sort or a driting activity. For the reminder of time left in our classroom before we head off to lunch we will fill out our agendas. The rest of the day we will go to Lunch/Recess, and then Math! Lots to get done!

Welcome to the year 2010!

Today we began our day normal, with DOL and announcements. Afterwards, we went to specials, which were computers and guidance. In guidance we watched "Super Chick." It was a movie about being on the safe side, and never talking with strangers. Next we had science. We celebrated Sir Isaac Newton's birthday. Today he is 368 years old! We also read a short biography about him, and began writing a 12323234 paragraph about his Three Laws of Motion. During reading, we did introduction activities to the book Hatchet, which we will begin reading tomorrow. We discussed the word "survival," and thought about what might be important if you had to survive in the wild on your own. We were chose our research animals. There is a link, to the right, to do our research. In English we studied present tense verbs. It seemed easy. In word study, we got new words, and have to complete a "Meaning Sort." Lunch is coming up. I can hardly wait! Recess will probably be really cold, so we'll have to run around a lot. We have not had math in a long time, so who knows what will happen.
